I joined to build the product across the stack: the web app in AngularJS, the Android app in Java. When AngularJS reached its limits, we migrated to Angular piece by piece instead of rewriting — and kept shipping features throughout. It set a rule I still follow: a migration is product work, not a pause.
With a team to lead, I moved Android from Java to Kotlin one screen at a time rather than freezing for a rewrite. New code was Kotlin from the first day; old code converted when we touched it. The app never stopped releasing, and the team learned the language on real problems.
BIGVU ran on a single, fragile server. I rebuilt it as a video platform on AWS — Elastic Beanstalk for services, CloudFront and Lambda@Edge for delivery, MongoDB for the product, Redshift for analytics. Growth stopped being a risk and became something the system was designed for.
I lead backend, web, iOS, Android and data. The biggest decision of these years was bringing AI coding agents into everyday engineering — first in my own work, then across the team. The product now serves 10M+ people, on the platform we rebuilt.
